The incredible abundance of the Mississippi delta presents coastal Louisiana anglers with a question that seldom worries their colleagues in other states: What did I just reel in? It's a mystery that intrigues an angler's curiosity, and can also carry some legal ramifications. The just-released "Anglers' Guide To Fishes Of The Gulf Of Mexico" ($35, Pelican Press) solves those mysteries in authoritative style. Authors of the text are Jerald Horst, one of the region's most respected fisheries biologists, and Mike Lane, creator of the popular Web site RodnReel.Com. Their expertise helped guide beautiful and exact 207 full-color illustrations by artist Duane Raver. The hard-cover volume will become a must-have for any local saltwater angler. Best book of it's kind, superb illustrations, wonderfully written and easy to read text. Don Dubuc - Outdoors with Don Dubuc - WWL Radio, 870 AM
Finally, a definitive book on Gulf fishes! Mike Lane has done an excellent job of putting together the finest collection of fish drawings I have ever seen. Most other books give only half the drawings and you are left to figure things out from often vague and confusing text. Be sure I will have a copy on every boat.
